Euro Pasta!

Now, onto what Italy is so well known for.... the PASTA!
WE LOVE PASTA!
No two ways about it, it's a fact.
I'm quite certain my Grandma Florence called me a "noodle head" when I was a kid because all I wanted to eat was pasta, and then followed it up with, "you need to marry an Italian!".  Well, look what happened Grandma! :)

Here we go, Pasta Pictures, HURRAY!
Ravioli filled with a ricotta cheese filling smothered with a tomato sauce from a casino in Malta! Who would have thought? Delicious!

Spaghetti noodles with egg, oil, and prosciutto, salt and pepper which makes... Carbonara (Jon's Fav!)! Simplicity at it's best.

MMM baked pasta, one of my fav's. From Zia Giovinna's oven in Milano.

This is in Riomaggiore, Cinque Terre, Italy.  On the right we have gnocchi, and on the left a lasagna.  Eaten outside, the best way to eat.

O this was good! This was in Monterosso al Mare, Cinque Terre, Italy.  Tomato salad with bocconcini on the far left, a pesto pasta is the back plate, and a lasagne in the foreground.  I could eat this meal over and over again.  Eaten right by the sea.... paradise.

Foreground, Carbonara, tomato salad (my new favourite type of salad, so simple and so delicious), back dish is penne arrabiata (translated to "angry pasta", which means a bit of spice, that's all).  This was eaten on the streets of Roma, tables were set up inside the restaurant and also on the sidewalk, we chose the sidewalk.

Next time we are in Rome we are FOR SURE going back to this restaurant on Via Alessandra.  Jon has a huge dish of penne arrabiata, and I have a pesto spaghetti dish, with house red wine.  This was the first time we realized, we ate our dinner waaaaaaaay earlier than Italians.  When we finished our meal, the locals were JUST starting to come in to have their dinner.  But we were hungry, so we went on Canadian time, you know 6:30 - 7!   :)

Matteo of Troia dishing up some delicious tomato pasta in his home for us, this was our meal upon arriving in this beautiful town.

Orecchiette (which are little round pasta with a thumb print in them - it means little ears) with arrugula and tomato sauce.  Pasta with greens is so refreshing.

This dish is called "Stuck Together", I'm not joking.  This is a tasty fried dish from Malta, spaghetti noodles cooked with a dash of cinnamon, nutmeg, egg, salt and pepper and fresh herbs.  You dig in with a knife and a fork, and enjoy :D

O this was a delicious dish Jon had in Malta in a small cafe.  Rosette pasta.  This was fresh pasta rolled with ham and a beshamel sauce on top and then baked.  Rich and delicious!  Paired nicely with Maltese beer on the left... the famous... CISK!  Cisk is to Maltese people as Lucky is to Vancouver Islanders.

This was my dish at that Maltese cafe, a baked lasagne made with fresh pasta, and boy o boy did it melt in your mouth.  Topped with a basil leave and parmesean, and baked.  YUM CENTRAL.

From two pasta lovers to you, I hope you enjoyed these pasta pictures, and it inspires you to add more pasta to your life.  Life is just better with more pasta in it.

Tell us which one made your mouth water the most!

Jon and Heather.
