Well we are a wee bit damp but still having lots of fun. We arrived in Riomaggiore (one of the towns in the cinque terre area). Cinque Terre is a group of 5 towns along the rugged coastline that have many trails that connect them. Yesterday night we stayed in Riomaggiore in a private suite which was tucked away up a gazillion stairs and around the corner. It was really fun, there is one main road where there are many places to eat and things to look at, we had a very chill day yesterday and just relaxed and watched the fishermen fish and watch the wind blow.
Today we moved to a different town, Monterosso al mare, in hopes of finding a place and hiking the trail between all 5 towns; however, today was a tropical downpour!!! so no hiking for us, but we have still got to see a lot of the coastline here which is just awesome, we will come back one day and fulfill the trek but it seems like it isn't in the cards for us this time. Regardless we have met some fabulous locals who gave us a spot to stay, up hidden in the hills, surrounded by lush vegetation. Figs, pommegranites, lemons, and olives are everywhere. The ocean is SO WARM but it's raining cats and dogs so just Jon's feet ventured in. There was a really neat man carved into the rock here, it looks as though his back is holding up the wall, very striking. See how small I am in comparison! Me with the little red umbrella!!
So we are just about to head out for some dinner, and then tomorrow we will head for a couple of days to Firenze (Florence), hopefully we will catch some sunshine. But the rain sure hasn't dampened our time together in Europe.
Love you guys lots, we love your comments!!
